Birdability: Perspectives on Access from the Field panel discussion ּfrom Birdability Week 2020

Join us for an open, friendly discussion about what it’s like birding with mobility and accessibility challenges, grumpy joints and other health concerns. Among other things, we’ll talk about the challenges many birders face when trying to go birding, what an ‘accessible trail’ really is, and suggestions for all birders who want to be more inclusive and welcoming. Hosted by Freya McGregor, Occupational Therapist and Outreach Coordinator for Ray Brown’s Talkin’ Birds, the panel will include a birder who is blind, birders who use a wheelchair, a birder with Type 1 diabetes and Autism, and birders who’ve worked closely with people with disabilities in creating accessible bird outings, as well as Birdability founder Virginia Rose.
