Birdability Monthly Salon & Social Hour

A Space for Connection, Inclusion, and Joy!

At Birdability, we believe that birding is for every body, and that means creating spaces where disability justice and inclusion aren’t just afterthoughts—they’re the norm. We know that access to nature isn’t just about ramps and trails (though those matter, too!); it’s about community. It’s about spaces where disabled birders, bird lovers, and allies can come together to connect, share experiences, and build the world we all deserve.

That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce the Birdability Salon & Social Hour, happening every 4th Thursday at 7 pm ET / 6 pm CT / 5 pm MT / 4 pm PT on Zoom!

What to Expect

This is not a webinar, a panel, or a structured meeting. This is a social space—a place to connect, chat, and build relationships with other birders who care about access and inclusion. Some months, we’ll have a broad discussion about accessible birding and nature connection, while all months will feature breakout rooms where folks can dive into specific topics like:

  • Native Plants & Bird-Friendly Landscaping – Want to talk about how to support birds right where you are?

  • Playing Wingspan Together – Let’s get competitive (or cooperative!) with the game we all love.

  • Backyard Birdfeeding – What’s visiting your feeders, and how can we make backyard birding more inclusive?

  • Nature Journaling as Mindfulness – Using art, words, and observation to deepen our connection to birds and ourselves.

  • …and so much more!

Why This Matters

Birding is about more than just observing birds. It’s about belonging. It’s about connection—to nature, to ourselves, and to each other. And when we make space for conversations about accessibility, inclusion, and disability justice, we help build a world where every human being has access to and feels included in the outdoors—and everywhere else.

Whether you’re a longtime birder, just getting started, or somewhere in between, we invite you to show up as you are. You belong here.
