April 20 Birdability Walk

Birdability Walk 042019
Join Virginia Rose for a bird walk tailor-made for folks with mobility challenges!
Okay y'all! The weather is looking up for birding in Austin! Stating it out loud will make it so! The April 20 Birdability walk will be at 8 am at Govalle Metropolitan Park at 5200 Bolm Road.
Pull into the parking lot, and veer left; keep going until you see the large sign at the start of the Southern Walnut Creek Trail. If you do not see the sign or the concrete trail on your right, you are not in the right location. The last time I was at this park, I saw belted kingfisher and osprey!
See Google Maps for directions. Unfortunately, it is not on the Capital Metro route.
NOTE: There are no accessible bathrooms on this trail!
Wear appropriate cold weather attire if it is cold! Bring water, a hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Bring binoculars if you have them. I will bring extra binoculars for those of you who need them.
If I decide to cancel the walk for weather, I will post that on my blog, birdability.com. Check my blog before you head out!
See you there! I am very excited you are coming. I know you will enjoy it. If you run into any problem, call or text me at: 512-461-6920.

Virginia Rose

Virginia fell off a horse at the age of 14 which resulted in a spinal cord injury. A wheelchair user ever since, she began birding 17 years ago and discovered her best self in nature. She has led bird outings for Travis Audubon for seven years, and leads the accessible outings for the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival each year.

As a retired high school English teacher, she is passionate about bringing the same joy of birding and nature to others who have mobility or other accessibility challenges. Her infectious positive attitude is the force behind Birdability.
