Birdability at the Biggest Week in American Birding

This ten-day long bird festival is held in northwest Ohio to coincide with huge amounts of migrating spring warblers who stop over on the US-side of Lake Erie. There they fatten up and give themselves a pep talk, before launching over the huge, unknown body of water (which has nowhere to land! Scary! ) on their way to their breeding grounds.

Birdability founder Virginia Rose, and Birdability’s Director of Programs and Outreach Freya McGregor will be…

  • Co-leading four intentionally inclusive and accessible bird outings from 10-12pm on May 7, 8, 10 and 11 (one will be a stationary “birding by butt” event).

  • Giving a spotlight presentation on Monday May 9 about using birding as empowerment, and easy actions birders can take to be more welcoming and inclusive… of disabled birders, and of everybody else, too!

  • At the Birdability booth at the Birders Marketplace at Maumee Bay Lodge, everyday from Friday May 6 - Tuesday May 10, from 3-8pm (except when we’re doing our presentation!).
