Results Birdability walk Sat., Feb. 8

Hello February birders! As you can see, we are a bit bundled up here at Walnut Creek Metro Park, but the rain held off and we saw some birds.

This urban park has become nearly too popular: lots of loose dogs, loose bicycles, loose runners, and a small flock of birders trying to stay out of the way! May be my last foray into this park.

Still, we had some fun birds though it was ONE bird at a time, each originating with a chip, chip, chip. We relied on our birding by ear skills all morning. Birders were game and all willing to work for each and every one. We had the entertaining Cedar Waxwings, Orange-crowned Warbler, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, American Crow, Cooper's Hawk, Blue Jay, Northern Cardinal, Titmouse hybrid, Carolina Wren, Yellow-rumped Warbler, both Audubon's and Myrtle. Best bird was probably Blue-headed Vireo though few birders saw it.

We made it back to the cars alive and are looking forward to the next walk on March 21 at Richard Moya Park! Stay tuned!
