Champions Park on Brushy Creek Road.
8:00-10:00am

Happy 2020, y'all! I am pleased to lead a Birdability walk to the very birdy and accessible Champions Park. This park offers all kinds of habitat, wide open grassland for Northern Harrier and deep woods for Golden-crowned Kinglet, both of which I saw here last winter. Come with us!

Dress for the weather! Bring water, a hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Bring binoculars if you have them. I will bring extra binoculars for those of you who need them.

The parking, restrooms, and trails are great for people with mobility challenges.

If it is too rainy, icey, snowy, cold, or windy, I may cancel. Please check my blog for cancellations before you leave home!

See you there! I am very excited you are coming. I know you will enjoy it. If you run into any problem, call or text me at: 512-461-6920.

Virginia fell off a horse at the age of 14 which resulted in a spinal cord injury. A wheelchair user ever since, she began birding 17 years ago and discovered her best self in nature. She has led bird outings for Travis Audubon for seven years, and leads the accessible outings for the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival each year.

As a retired high school English teacher, she is passionate about bringing the same joy of birding and nature to others who have mobility or other accessibility challenges. Her infectious positive attitude is the force behind Birdability.
