February Bird Walk

Join Virginia Rose for a bird walk tailor-made for folks with mobility challenges!
The walk will be on Sat., Feb. 16 at 8:00 at the Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park. Meet at the parking lot on Walnut Creek Park Road that is closest to Parmer Lane on the northwest side of town. See below for directions. Unfortunately, it is not on the Capital Metro route. Please be prompt.
Dress appropriately if it is cold!
Bring water, a hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Bring binoculars if you have them. I will bring extra binoculars for those of you who need them.

IF COMING NORTH ON MOPAC:
Take Mopac N to Parmer.
R on Parmer
Pass Metric and Scofield
R on Willow Wild Rd. which becomes Walnut Creek Park Road
Park in FIRST lot on the RIGHT.
You will see some green "begin bike trail" signs.
IF YOU ARE COMING NORTH ON LAMAR INSTEAD OF PARMER:
Pass Walnut Park Crossing on the right, and take L on Walnut Creek Park Road, 12138 N. Lamar. If you get to W. Yeager, you've gone too far.
Continue down Walnut Creek Park Road until you get to the last parking lot on the left. This parking lot will not have any playground equipment on it.

Virginia fell off a horse at the age of 14 which resulted in a spinal cord injury. A wheelchair user ever since, she began birding 17 years ago and discovered her best self in nature. She has led bird outings for Travis Audubon for seven years, and leads the accessible outings for the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival each year.

As a retired high school English teacher, she is passionate about bringing the same joy of birding and nature to others who have mobility or other accessibility challenges. Her infectious positive attitude is the force behind Birdability.
